This is one of the greatest IF I have ever seen. I just reached the part where you leave the High Sentinel's outpost, and the game just slapped me in the face with "To be continued" :(

Does the game continue a bit past that for different storyline choices? I haven't met Ianthe yet.

Thank you so much!

That is indeed the current cutoff for all choices. I'm actively writing the next update, which should complete the current mini arc ☺

SO READY for this y/mc/arthur love triangle 🤑🤑🤑  imagine sending your lover (who doesn't know it yet) away on a mission for the sake of your nefarious grand plan and they end up FALLING IN LOVE with your MORTAL ENEMY. tragic.

amazing writing btw! definitely the best prose out of all of the IF games i've played so far. i appreciate everything from the varied sentence structure and length to the vividly poetic descriptions that make the game feel more alive. often times, when i play these types of games, i find myself beginning to skim over scenes as certain phrases or styles grow increasingly repetitive, but i never felt that way even once while playing your game!

my favorite little tidbit has to be when you choose to empathize with jayna after tagging along with arthur: "grief spills. there is always too much of it for one body, so it reaches the tips of your feet and makes you feel things you'd rather not." it's such a great way to describe how all-encompassing and overwhelming grief feels, and how it begins to seep out and affect the people around you. you truly have such a way with words ^_^

aside from the prose itself, i'm also really enjoying the plot, world building, and pacing of the story so far. nothing that's happened feels unbelievable or out of place, and the gradual introductions to bits of lore help avoid that info dump feeling a lot of fantasy stories fall into within the first few chapters. the flow and nature of wild magic you've come up with is unlike anything i've ever read before; it's so dangerous, yet poetically beautiful and utterly terrifying all at once. + the slow build up of trust and affection with the ROs (arthur :3 ) is so satisfying, and it makes those small, rare, sweet moments all the more meaningful <3

i'm sooo glad i chose to go with arthur that night at the inn, because the scene that unfolds when you try to (genuinely) offer him comfort over merritt's passing is BY FAR my favorite! i love playing mcs with bleeding hearts, and there's something so raw about the fact that they, despite their mission and everything they know about mage hunters, can't help but feel for arthur and his loss. it moved me so deeply T_T we're all just people trying to survive and keep our loved ones safe... it's such a primal instinct, and yet, that moment of understanding reaches beyond the tentative, muddied, almost nonexistent trust between the two. in that moment, their sincerity—their innate feeling of compassion—triumphed over their status as enemies on opposite sides of a war. #lovewins or whatever :p

there's also something to be said about that rare display of worn out vulnerability from a character who is normally so hostile and distrustful. i fear it awakens something carnal within me.

omg ANYWAY i should probably stop yapping my head off now so THANK YOU SO MUCH WONDERFUL AUTHOR FOR MAKING THIS BEAUTIFUL TOUCHING GAME YOU'RE AN AMAZING WRITER AND I WISH YOU NOTHING BUT THE BEST IN LIFE AND ENDLESS JOY FOR BLESSING THE WORLD WITH YOUR PASSION AND SKILL ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much, I'm frankly just speechless ❤ This was incredibly validating to read and absorb! You have touched upon so many aspects of writing that I am super conscious about: descriptions, pacing, lore dumps and absence thereof, and of course, emotional beats, so I'm just here kicking my feet over the fact that most of it is landing, it seems? Yay!

I appreciate you taking the time to communicate all this, it made me feel so seen for what I'm trying to achieve with this story!

As I say this, I'm steadily progressing with the next bit of the game, so I hope you enjoy it when it is published!

Thank you again ❤

Is there a downloadable version of this game?

My browser refuse to run it.... >_>

(Although it seems to run downloaded browser based games just fine. I have no clue why. o_O )

(+4)

Perhaps you could share the error that your browser is showing? I could see if I can address that.

(-3)

I tried just now.... But it won't let me post a picture in the reply window.

It says: "Fatal error has occurred. Aborting. Error: no valid storage adapters found."

On an fyi: I had the same problem with another game, and the creator added a download for their game, and the dowloaded version ran just fine, despite being the same game in a browser window.

I have no clue why.

(+5)

From what I've seen, this error means that the game is either accessed through an anonymous/incognito tab, or cookies are disabled on the webpage.

The engine that the game runs on requires cookies to keep track of the playthrough, so enabling them would be a fix with this and any future interactive fiction games you decide to try :)

(-9)

Nope. Cookies are on.

And some games DO work. But not all. And not yours.

Looking at your comment history, you have that issue with multiple different Twine games. The issue is on your end, not theirs. Downloading the game works because it's no longer a file hosted on the internet trying to access your browser information remotely, it's just a file stored on your computer.

Idrelle Games made a post addressing some common errors; yours is number one: https://idrellegames.itch.io/wayfarer/devlog/316300/troubleshooting-game-launch-...

omg i love this so much, im looking forward to the next chapter :)

Replayed this today. Did you remove some scenes with the King? Or did I do something wrong because I swear I remember there being more with him... Otherwise... looking forward to more!!

(+2)

I haven't removed anything or changed the code in any of the previous material, so my guess is that you made a few different choices this time, and it affected which scenes you saw. If anything, I plan to extend some past scenes, including the first in-game encounter with the Gray Regent (though that is still a work-in-progress parallel to the main game development). Thank you!

(+5)

I did make a few different choices. I suppose this means i need to go back and try it again LOL. Yves will not escape me.

(+8)

Thought I would go for Gale at first but nope, my MC is gonna be the (deadly) loyal dog of the Gray Regent 🤭 Their dynamic is just *chef kiss*

(+2)

Haha, their effect in action 😅
