was thinking to myself "finally a finished IF game !!" and then just as things were getting so good I FIND OUT ITS NOT FINISHED </3333
you dont even know how excited i am for the next chapters to come out, please take your time to make it just as good as chapter 1 !!!!! i wish i could say i had a mc preference but i replayed this about 50 times (cuz my progress kept deleting) and im genuinely intrigued in every single one of ours mcs. alsooo ik we wont be seeing them a lot BUT PLEASE MORE JAX THEY HAVE MY HEART AND SOUL !!!
also, just a personal thank you, because when i play IF games it feels like the creator had.. an idea for the protags gender ig? sometimes the dialogue and the way the character is treated you can tell the author is imagining a woman or a man or a certain ethnicity, but with this i honestly didnt even notice any subtle dialogue like that ! it took so long to realize that it was so easy to imagine my protag in the story because it was very,, unassuming. i think it takes a lot of effort to get that done well, and you got it done AMAZING, so honestly kudos.
I need to stop playing in-progress games because the writing in this is so damn good! I'm absolutely desperate for more, and I want to know everything- who my character really is, their former relation (if any) to the Grey Regent, the Regent's plan, what plans the Viper King has and how things will go with the group- it's all so good and I love it! Here's hoping we get to see a lot more of this story and its characters soon, I'll be eagerly waiting for sure!
Thank you!!! Creating an intrigue is not a trivial task, so I'm hoping to do well. There are a few clues in the game already, though they are probably more obvious in retrospect π
I see you released an update about 60 days ago, it's my first time playing and I think it's fabulous! Do you have a Patreon? I like to support what small amount I can.
Any other updates planned for 2025? Please no pressure, I'm simply curious
Thank you so much! I'd start something if I knew how to pivot the donations into something like art commissions directly :D For now, there is none, but I appreciate the thought!
I'd still like to release a codex update for a few things relevant to the currently published game content (and in a more fun format, too); but as to anything from Ch. 2 coming out in 2025, I cannot say yet.
Happy to say that this game is great! Also happy to see I have been playing it for many months and I haven't found any secrets because I want to be so nice to everyone (I am a terrible spy).
The newest update was such a treat to play through!! I have enjoyed every moment of it and im so interested to see where the story will lead from here :)
What an absolutely incredible game!!! Your descriptions are amazing, and you seriously do such a great job at setting the scene and immersing your reader. Not to mention, your characters are distinct and easy to like (and hate!), the politics are gripping, and the world building is SUCH A TREAT! I had so much fun reading about the magic system, its history, and how our character navigates it.
Also, I ain't gonna lie, the way you wrote MC crushing on King Yves had me kicking my feet every time that man was on-screen. Getting to combine a crushing MC with all those options that had you devoted to them as a regent, too, made it 10000x juicier. "You would wear it," he says. Yes sir!!!
I would also like to report that this entire passage in the newest update:
' "Sleep?.." it speaks after a while. '
Hit me like an absolute ton of bricks. I cried! I had to step away from the whole computer! I'm still a little teary writing this! And that's not even getting into the mind-blowingly vivid scenes in the leadup to that point.
In short, I just want to make sure you know you have a beautiful game on your hands, and I can't wait to see where it goes next <3
π₯Ί Thank you so much, it was such an emotional update to write and I had to stand up and walk it off quite a few times, so I'm happy it translated to the players as well <3
THIS IS SO GOOD!! I absolutely adore the writing style, along with all of the kinds of choices you can make! One question though, is there an area where I can see all of the physical descriptions of the characters? Iβm an artist and Iβd love to draw some fanart !!! But itβs a bit hard when I barely remember what the characters look like π
Thank you so much!! I've compiled a description masterpost on the tumblr development blog: appearances. There's some character art on the blog, too, you can decide if it helps with your interpretation or might interfere with it, so I'll share a link within a link within a link to the art so that you won't accidentally peek it.
Hii your writing style is genuinely so beautiful i love everything about this but when i clicked a specific text option it gave me 'Error: the passage "negotiate_7aelia_d" does not exist' idk if it's a problem with my laptop, i'll try and see if its me (sorry if it is and i'm just wasting your time π) but i just thought you should know!!
I'm so happy you liked the update and thank you for reporting the issue! You're not the only one to run into it, and it will be fixed with a patch in the next few days. If you pick a different option just there, you should be able to progress in the meantime, or you can wait for the patch if you want π
RHAHXHDHDUDBXHIANXODPAKBZIFKSBX ITS BACK WHAT. I HAVE BEEN SO HYPED FOR THIS. <333 okay. first off, before I play. Lemme just say, I love your writing style. Second off, I have been so excited ever since I heard this was still being worked on cause this was the first interactive text based fiction I have EVER played. So. Yay. And third of all, thank you (cause I have manners and shit). <333. I will probably come back to respond to this comment after I finish playing the update.
This is one of the greatest IF I have ever seen. I just reached the part where you leave the High Sentinel's outpost, and the game just slapped me in the face with "To be continued" :(
Does the game continue a bit past that for different storyline choices? I haven't met Ianthe yet.
SO READY for this y/mc/arthur love triangle π€π€π€ imagine sending your lover (who doesn't know it yet) away on a mission for the sake of your nefarious grand plan and they end up FALLING IN LOVE with your MORTAL ENEMY. tragic.
amazing writing btw! definitely the best prose out of all of the IF games i've played so far. i appreciate everything from the varied sentence structure and length to the vividly poetic descriptions that make the game feel more alive. often times, when i play these types of games, i find myself beginning to skim over scenes as certain phrases or styles grow increasingly repetitive, but i never felt that way even once while playing your game!
my favorite little tidbit has to be when you choose to empathize with jayna after tagging along with arthur: "grief spills. there is always too much of it for one body, so it reaches the tips of your feet and makes you feel things you'd rather not." it's such a great way to describe how all-encompassing and overwhelming grief feels, and how it begins to seep out and affect the people around you. you truly have such a way with words ^_^
aside from the prose itself, i'm also really enjoying the plot, world building, and pacing of the story so far. nothing that's happened feels unbelievable or out of place, and the gradual introductions to bits of lore help avoid that info dump feeling a lot of fantasy stories fall into within the first few chapters. the flow and nature of wild magic you've come up with is unlike anything i've ever read before; it's so dangerous, yet poetically beautiful and utterly terrifying all at once. + the slow build up of trust and affection with the ROs (arthur :3 ) is so satisfying, and it makes those small, rare, sweet moments all the more meaningful <3
i'm sooo glad i chose to go with arthur that night at the inn, because the scene that unfolds when you try to (genuinely) offer him comfort over merritt's passing is BY FAR my favorite! i love playing mcs with bleeding hearts, and there's something so raw about the fact that they, despite their mission and everything they know about mage hunters, can't help but feel for arthur and his loss. it moved me so deeply T_T we're all just people trying to survive and keep our loved ones safe... it's such a primal instinct, and yet, that moment of understanding reaches beyond the tentative, muddied, almost nonexistent trust between the two. in that moment, their sincerity—their innate feeling of compassion—triumphed over their status as enemies on opposite sides of a war. #lovewins or whatever :p
there's also something to be said about that rare display of worn out vulnerability from a character who is normally so hostile and distrustful. i fear it awakens something carnal within me.
omg ANYWAY i should probably stop yapping my head off now so THANK YOU SO MUCH WONDERFUL AUTHOR FOR MAKING THIS BEAUTIFUL TOUCHING GAME YOU'RE AN AMAZING WRITER AND I WISH YOU NOTHING BUT THE BEST IN LIFE AND ENDLESS JOY FOR BLESSING THE WORLD WITH YOUR PASSION AND SKILL β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Thank you so much, I'm frankly just speechless β€ This was incredibly validating to read and absorb! You have touched upon so many aspects of writing that I am super conscious about: descriptions, pacing, lore dumps and absence thereof, and of course, emotional beats, so I'm just here kicking my feet over the fact that most of it is landing, it seems? Yay!
I appreciate you taking the time to communicate all this, it made me feel so seen for what I'm trying to achieve with this story!
As I say this, I'm steadily progressing with the next bit of the game, so I hope you enjoy it when it is published!
I tried just now.... But it won't let me post a picture in the reply window.
It says: "Fatal error has occurred. Aborting. Error: no valid storage adapters found."
On an fyi: I had the same problem with another game, and the creator added a download for their game, and the dowloaded version ran just fine, despite being the same game in a browser window.
From what I've seen, this error means that the game is either accessed through an anonymous/incognito tab, or cookies are disabled on the webpage.
The engine that the game runs on requires cookies to keep track of the playthrough, so enabling them would be a fix with this and any future interactive fiction games you decide to try :)
Looking at your comment history, you have that issue with multiple different Twine games. The issue is on your end, not theirs. Downloading the game works because it's no longer a file hosted on the internet trying to access your browser information remotely, it's just a file stored on your computer.
Replayed this today. Did you remove some scenes with the King? Or did I do something wrong because I swear I remember there being more with him... Otherwise... looking forward to more!!
I haven't removed anything or changed the code in any of the previous material, so my guess is that you made a few different choices this time, and it affected which scenes you saw. If anything, I plan to extend some past scenes, including the first in-game encounter with the Gray Regent (though that is still a work-in-progress parallel to the main game development). Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to let me know! Naming the saves is a convenience feature, so it seems like it will be better if I make it opt-in rather than opt-out.
But I think I found a bug in the magic practice scene in Riante. After choosing "I was practicing magic" (1st img), my Magic param increased by 15 EACH TIME I checked the stat page (selecting "Character" then "Return"). Eventually I got 100 Magic mastery ... (2nd img)
Not a game-breaking bug, but please let me know if you need more details
Appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I understand what is happening here, and although I am not against the player achieving 100 mastery with magic or anything, it is a little too early for that π I will fix it, thank you!
Hi, quick question. Will we be able to play a touch-averse-yet-at-the-same-time-touch-starved MC? If not, would you consider implementing that option in the future? I can never seem to strike the right balance when given two binary options regarding how me/my character feels about touch so it'd be nice to have more options.
Regardless, this new update (the end of which I haven't yet gotten to) is a very welcome sign regarding the future of the project. I'm happy to see the story being continued, great job!
Thank you for the lovely message and for bringing the case for touch-starved options to my attention! I think it would have become a natural extension for the touch-averse MCs as the story allows for them to be more...vulnerable with other characters, but this makes me approach it more consciously. Oof, that sounds bad. Do you mind telling me which exact app you mean here? I might need to add it to the testing list in the future if it behaves so differently from the desktop/phone browsers I've ran the game with.
I'll change it to the setting option asap. Thanks for letting me know!

Hi! Not for aesthetic purposes, but open dyslexic needs to happen, I will be adding it soon. Thank you for reminding me!
Love the new update, and I love Gale lol
Thank you for this beautiful work of art
Thank you! Gale love, yay!
oh my god i love yves so much
darla too sheβs so cute
wonderful new update thank you for all the amazing work!!
Thank you so much, glad you liked it!!
Happy to say that this game is great! Also happy to see I have been playing it for many months and I haven't found any secrets because I want to be so nice to everyone (I am a terrible spy).
Oh, the secrets are very situational, but I'm sure your time will come. Thank you!
I can't wait be ruthless as mercy to myself and rise that back up some point in the future
ah love the world building and the plot twist at the current place it ends
Hehe, some plots are only just beginning. Thank you!
oh nice very good to hear :3 also your very welcome :3
Loved the update so much, and that end! Cannot wait for more!
Thank you! <3

SO SO LOVELY

Is there a downloadable version of this game?
My browser refuse to run it.... >_>
(Although it seems to run downloaded browser based games just fine. I have no clue why. o_O )
Perhaps you could share the error that your browser is showing? I could see if I can address that.
I tried just now.... But it won't let me post a picture in the reply window.

Nope. Cookies are on.
And some games DO work. But not all. And not yours.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.... (PLEASE SAY THIS IS STILL BEING WORKED ON)
fear not, I'm working on the next update π
OMG YAY

exactly
Great game! I'll be waiting for the next update with anticipation π

I did make a few different choices. I suppose this means i need to go back and try it again LOL. Yves will not escape me.
Thought I would go for Gale at first but nope, my MC is gonna be the (deadly) loyal dog of the Gray Regent π€ Their dynamic is just *chef kiss*
Haha, their effect in action π
game-breaking bug located: i fully cannot save. Like, at all. same error over and over.
Does it help if you disable save file naming in the game settings (the top toggle there)?
If it doesn't, I would appreciate it if you copied the error message and described how you are playing the game (desktop or mobile, for example).
I had the same issue and I changed the settings like you said here, and it seems to have solved the issue!
Thank you for taking the time to let me know! Naming the saves is a convenience feature, so it seems like it will be better if I make it opt-in rather than opt-out.
Amazing update, definitely worth the wait!
Thank you!
Appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I understand what is happening here, and although I am not against the player achieving 100 mastery with magic or anything, it is a little too early for that π I will fix it, thank you!
Glad my report helps. I agree it's too early for our MC to become an overpowered mage π
So yes, I can see it as an option within future scenes.
That's very neat! I'm keen to see what you might have in mind in the future. Thanks for replying!
Loved the update, enjoyed it a lot! Thank you for your hard workπ
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Could you possibly make autonaming of saves an option, like I've seen in other twine wips?
Because having to name your saves manually makes it impossible to save, when playing through the app. And I would really appreciate being able to save again.
Oof, that sounds bad. Do you mind telling me which exact app you mean here? I might need to add it to the testing list in the future if it behaves so differently from the desktop/phone browsers I've ran the game with.
I'll change it to the setting option asap. Thanks for letting me know!
Edit: I have updated the game with the option to disable save slot naming, though it is on by default. You can change it in the Settings panel from the left-side bar, top option:
Absolutely loved the update! So excited for more!
Thank you! Already have the next part planned out π
Thank you!
Glad this is back I missed reading this story
Thank you! I'm so glad to have an update for you guys too!
This is wonderful! I love the premise and the characters, and it's awesome that it's still being updated and worked on. Great job!
Thank you! I feel much safer hinting at the upcoming update with a big bulk of the work done already. Cannot wait to share!
for some reason i have vague memories of playing this multiple times, yet not getting anywhere? welp whatever doing this again!
Fair enough, the game is a work in progress π However, it is getting an update pretty soon, so you will be getting further with it :)
